What is Blackening?
Chemical conversion coating applied to ferrous metals such as steel, iron and stainless steel
Forms a thin black oxide layer on the metal surface through an oxidation reaction
Improves appearance, provide mild corrosion resistance and reduces light reflection
Key Properties:
Corrosion Resistance: Offers moderate corrosion protection, often enhanced with an oil or wax sealant after treatment
Appearance: Produces a smooth, matte to semi-gloss black finish used for decorative or non-reflective purposes
Dimensional Stability: The coating is very thin (1-2 microns) and does not affect part dimensions or tolerances
Lubricity: Provides a low-friction surface ideal for moving parts and assemblies
Adhesion: Bonds well to the base metal without peeling or flaking
Electrical Conductivity: Retains good conductivity compared to thicker coatings, useful for electronic or contact components
Applications:
Automotive Industry( Tools, Fasteners, Gears and Brackets)
Aerospace( Small Precision parts, fasteners, fittings)
Machinery and Tools( Cutting tools, jigs and fixtures)
Hardwares and Fasteners ( Bolts, nuts, washers and hinges)
Consumer Goods ( Optical Instruments, camera parts and decorative metal accessories)
